During March, Sydney was invited to speak at two LegalWise conferences – the Construction Law Symposium and the Conveyancing Conference. At both conferences, he touched upon several key issues arising in construction law and conveyancing, including:
- Clauses promising to build to a particular standard in a contract for the sale of land
- Sales Off The Plan
- Prohibition orders pursuant to section 9 of the Residential Apartment Buildings (Compliance and Enforcement Powers) Act 2020 (NSW)
- Analysis of the disclosure statements, s66ZM of the Conveyancing Act introduced in December 2019 requires vendors to offer greater transparency, affords new remedies and stronger protections to purchasers
